Ready, set, vacate! That was the idea, so after Ann & Patrick's wedding we packed up and headed out in the stormiest of storms to the Cape to hang out for a few days with Laura, Steve, Baby Jack and Bubbie Cookie.

Sadie loves the beach. No, she Loves the beach. She is a water girl and a sand girl, and a collect little rocks and shells and snails girl. Even if it was high tide every morning when we went out, she still loved being on the beach.

For all of his water and sand peccadilloes, Jacob also Loves the beach. One morning he wandered alone so long that Bubbie was nearly ready to send out a search party. Only the fact that I knew his feet never once touched the water saved me from any such thoughts.

It was most fun to see Jack for such an extended period of time. It's been too short bursts of visit his whole life, so he still doesn't really know us, but he got along marvelously with Sadie.

Sadie braving the calm surf under Bubbie's careful supervision.

And the girl "swimming" in her spiffy new life vest.

The vest, hat, sunglasses combo kills me.

One day we made it back to the beach twice - so we were able to catch the low tide (finally) in the afternoon. It was certainly fun to sploosh around in the wide expanse of tiny rivulets, toss a little frisbee on the hard, damp sand, and otherwise enjoy the afternoon.

Me, the girl and the belly having waded past the morning's high tide seaweed onslaught to the sandbar beyond.

Loving Dad.

Banana split for dinner (from Smuggler's) was a birthday wish (mine) which Sadie was happy to help indulge.

Hangin' out with Aunt Laura.

Reading together one of Jack's favorite books by one of Sadie's favorite authors (Sandra Boynton).

I got the whole gang!

Sadie gives Bubbie a chess lesson.

Jacob and Sadie and what vacation is all about.

One more trip to the beach to add to our growing collection of cool rocks.

And said collection of cool rocks.

Cool piles of cool rocks.

Jack was fascinated with Uncle Jake. Maybe it was the goatee.

Jacob, Sadie and I made one pilgrimage to see some lighthouses. This is one of the "Three Sisters", decommissioned and relocated in a little field just a few hundred yards inland. Cute little things.
Having arrived in a downpour, we left in one too, neatly bookending our little trip to the Cape.

I especially liked the lighthouses.
