One evening in Mystic we dropped by an art gallery with some gorgeous hand-blown glass work. Inside we met Jeff, the artist and owner of the gallery, who invited us to come watch some glass-blowing action in person. Um, yes please!
It was very cool (or hot?) to watch Jeff and his assistant create one of their signature vases from start to finish.
The assistant takes mitts and flattens out the vase by hand which periodically sets the mitts on fire (it's molten glass, remember).
This is the beautiful display within the studio (not the gallery). I love the back-lit screen illuminating the various vases in all their rainbow glory.
