Mad skills

It's been pretty crazy around here still with Stationery Show preparations for me, and research for Jacob, but Sadie carries on learning new things every day.

Newest tricks:
  • climbing onto her chairs and then standing up on them (I've had to hide away the rocking chairs for awhile)
  • pushing monkey, pig and penguin around the house in her new mini-stroller
  • wanting to get herself pushed around the house in her new mini-stroller
  • signing for cracker, elephant, book, fork, pencil and all done - signing everything more consistently and regularly - she can really communicate!
  • pointing out body parts (especially facial features) on herself and others - books that do the same are among her favorites to read right now
  • climbing into my lap to be read to rather than just looking at pictures on her own
  • head nodding and shaking, with meaning and for fun
  • beginnings of words - "wawa" is much more clear, and instead of a needy "mamamamama" today she was actually separating it out and saying "ma" "ma" "ma" - I can see her trying to emulate sounds, she's so close
  • emptying out buckets and bowls and then filling them again with their contents
  • walking walking walking - she never crawls anymore and can now stand up from sitting completely unassisted
  • feeding herself with a spoon and fork (sort of)
Two of her most favorite activities are reading [in particular one of Jacob's old books on the Solar System has fascinated her (much to his delight)] and drawing with pencils, crayons and her magnadoodle (much to my delight).

That's our girl!
