Memorial Day weekend

We had a great Memorial Day weekend chock full of friends and adventure.

We started the weekend early with a team Albertine dinner & drinks at Highland Kitchen to meet up with Beck, fresh in from Connecticut.

Friday we played hookey from work to have lunch with Harvard friends in for commencement (congratulations Cory!).

We finished work in record time and headed straight for the playground where the water works are now in full blast. Sadie shows off the good balance she's learned from her Flamingo pose to rinse off her toes.

Building a house (or a cell?) for her friends.

Saturday Sadie and I used up a Groupon visiting the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. No pictures are allowed inside, but we had a grand time looking at fountains, letters, horses, paintings, architecture and more.

After the museum we crossed the street into the Fenway for a picnic lunch. We were met by a wandering family of new goslings who came right up to us nibbling on the grass.

Matt the monkey looking longingly at Sadie's peanut butter and banana sandwich.

Dinner that evening was homemade pizza (five different pies!!!) at the Alaeddin-Liguori house. Angela always has something wonderful for Sadie that her kids have outgrown, like these foam letter blocks. Nada, the eldest, handily and happily managed Sadie while we adults ate and drank al fresco on the back patio. Sadie still refers to it as Nada's house.

On Sunday we drove up to Portsmouth, New Hampshire to meet new cousin baby Max!

My cousins Erin (Max's mom) and Kelly (his aunt) made a great spread for his welcome afternoon and I just love the little boat details in the decoration.

Sadie loved meeting Max.

She made friends (more or less) with some of the other younguns, and one "breathing" sleeping dog.

Wandering around the pretty streets of Portsmouth after the party.

I may have to frame these - I just love brick walls!
