A look back at September

During our countdown to baby #2, we squeezed in a few more late-summer adventures.

On a lark one afternoon Sadie and I headed up to the monument on top of Prospect Hill (a.k.a. the "castle"), which you can see from the windows at my office. We parked at the bottom of the hill and walked up quite a few stairs to get to the top.

But the view was worth it.

Factoid: this monument marks an important site in Revolutionary War history and is purportedly the first place an American Flag was raised in our country.

Sadie started back at school and is happily in the "middle group" this year, with a much bigger group (now at 17 instead of the 9 from last year). On my one parent help day pre-baby I got a look at her acrobatic prowess. The oldest group is entirely returning students and the youngest group is almost entirely siblings, so most of the new families are in Sadie's group. They're all fabulous and Sadie is  adding new kids to her circle of friends.

Here's my girl at The Garden at the Cellar one of our "girls' night" dinners out (Jacob was working late and I was too pregnant and tired to cook). Mmmm... mini burgers and rosemary truffle french fries.

We're keeping up with the ballet - ever so cute!

One of the last summery Sundays in September we had a great picnic lunch by the river, followed by some coloring time (I was working on a custom invitation design).

It's best to be prepared for the weather, no matter where you are - even in the car, it seems.

Flying through galaxies with dad.

Here's me with my bump and some footwear that reminds me of the wicked witch of the east with her ruby slippers. Sadie went all out with the fairy wings, birthday hat and rainbow umbrella.

And one more street festival - Carnivale hit Cambridge in September. Sadie rocked out in a drum circle before we met Inanna for face painting, crafts, balloon animals, Chinese food, a parade and ice cream.

A happy end to the summer season and only-childom.
