Accoutrements

Here is where we shamelessly ask our dear family and friends to buy us stuff. Well, not us, per se, it's for the baby, after all.

We have created baby registries at the following (all viewable/order-able online):

Magic Beans - located in Brookline, MA - 866-600-BEAN
Babies R Us - locations all over the country
Amazon.com - internet only

Click on a store name to be directed to the website. If the links don't take you directly to the registry, simply follow the "baby registry" links on the home page and type in either Shelley or Jacob Barandes to call up our list.

Note for the Magic Beans site: their new website is fabulous, but the registries are still hosted on the old site. If you just want to browse or explore, click back to their homepage to see great product details, gift ideas, etc.

While not on any particular registry, other very welcome (and perhaps more portable) gifts include:
  • gift certificates to Diapers.com - not just for our chosen eco-friendly diapers but other cleaning and bath products as well as, actually, they have quite a lot it seems, and at bulk discount
  • gift certificates to Isis Maternity - my favorite local center, which we can use for classes, playgroups, baby gear and more)
  • gift certificates to Ikea - for baby stuff organization, nursery decor, and even some great baby toys and accessories
  • gift certificates to Whole Foods, for all those everyday non-register-able things like baby formula, should we end up needing it, baby food (eventually) and okay, perhaps some fresh prepared meals for a busy set of new parents
  • a baby blanket from Toby and Rei with either elephants or birds, in any color except blue or gray. I print the labels for Toby & Rei. It's a two-woman show here in Cambridge and this is the softest, most fabulous blanket I have ever seen - actually all of their stuff is great.
  • While we have not registered for any clothing and relatively few toys, baby clothes and toys are definitely welcome! We just don't have any strong opinions on them. We encourage organic fabrics where possible, and would like to avoid lead-contaminated toys from China.
All of this said and done, we would be just as delighted to receive well-wishes, anything handmade, or even IOU's for babysitting.
